Can I use my health savings account for dental?

eligible expenses, dental care

Absolutely. You can use your HSA to pay for most dental procedures for yourself or eligible dependents (children, siblings, parents, or a spouse/partner).

There are some dental services that are not eligible, however, including procedures considered “cosmetic.” This often includes teeth whitening or veneers, as well as procedures that are deemed not a medical necessity. You’ll have to pay out of pocket for those types of pearly whites.

Your dentist should know what would qualify and what doesn’t, so don’t be afraid to ask before you pay.
